Meta tag checker and Google preview

A meta tag checker shows how a page will look in Google results and when it is shared. It measures the title and description in characters and approximate pixels, previews the search snippet, and checks the Open Graph and X card tags that control link previews on LinkedIn, WhatsApp and social apps.

What this tool checks

Why it matters

Your title and description are your ad in the results. If they are cut off, missing or generic, fewer people click even when you rank well, and a missing share image makes every shared link look unfinished.

How to fix what it finds

  1. Keep titles under about 580 pixels, roughly 55 to 60 characters.
  2. Write 120 to 160 character descriptions that promise a clear outcome.
  3. Add a 1200 x 630 og:image and set og:url to the page's own address.
  4. Add twitter:card set to summary_large_image.

Meta tag checker: common questions

Why measure pixels and not just characters?

Google cuts titles by width, not character count. Wide letters such as W and M use more room, so two titles of the same length can be cut differently.

Google shows a different description from mine. Why?

Google rewrites descriptions when it thinks another passage matches the search better. A clear, specific description that matches the page's main topic is rewritten less often.

Do Open Graph tags affect rankings?

Not directly. They control how links look when shared, which affects clicks and visits from social and messaging apps.
